Generally Platies are associated with boldly colored fiery red or orange scales. An increased variety in coloration, patterns and fin sizes and shapes has in the recent past been made possible through selective breeding.?The differently colored Platy add brilliant moods to the aquarium and are very easy to keep. Here’s a few features:
Ideal fish tank size for the best conditions to keep platy is about 40 liters. However, being a small size fish, you can have it in any size aquarium you are willing to maintain. It would be useful to have densely planted hardy plants like Java Fern and Java Moss.
The Platy is a live bearer capable of reproducing at three to four months of age once they have acclimatized to their new tank. Male platies are smaller and more brightly colored than the females. The ideal male to female ratio for every tank is one to two.
As long as the water is clean, platies can tolerate a wide range of water conditions, They prefer water with a temperature range of 18 to 25?C (64?77?F).
