Care and placement
- Attachment: Do not bury the rhizome. Attach the plant to hardscape materials using fishing line, aquarium-safe glue, or cotton thread until it roots.
- Lighting: Provide low to medium lighting; too much light can lead to algae growth.
- Substrate: Can be planted in a nutrient-rich substrate, but the rhizome should never be covered.
- CO2 and fertilization: Supplemental CO2 is not required but can increase growth and leaf size. Regular fertilization with liquid or substrate fertilizers is beneficial, especially for iron and trace elements.

Water conditions: Thrives in soft, slightly acidic water (
6.0–7.5).
- Growth rate: Slow to moderate, with growth increasing significantly with CO2 injection.
- Placement: Use in the midground or background of an aquarium, where its flowing, feather-like leaves can sway in the current.
- Propagation: Propagate by cutting the horizontal rhizome, ensuring each new piece has roots and a portion of the rhizome.
